Co-opted Governors

Co-opted Governors are appointed by the Governing Body as they have, in the opinion of the Governing Body, the knowledge, skills and experience required to contribute to the effective governance and success of the school. Co-opted Governors often have an area of specialist knowledge or experience and will sit on the relevant committee accordingly.

Greg Pearce – Chair of Governors

I have two daughters, both of whom are at St James.  I have been a Project Financier for more than 20 years, during which time I have invested in and led the financing of projects involving the construction and refurbishment of social infrastructure including secondary schools.  I currently run a management consulting business and have previously led a team of 40 and held the position of Head of Infrastructure Finance at a global city-based bank.

I’m delighted to offer my assistance to continue to build on the “family” ethos within the school and hope my skills prove useful to the Governing Body, staff, parents and of course the children in supporting St James’ evolvement alongside the requirements of the local community.

Andrew Short - Vice Chair of Governors

I have two boys, both of whom are at St James.  I am a solicitor with over 15 years' experience in commercial litigation and crisis management.  I feel passionate about the vital role that St James plays in enriching our children's early years, providing them with learning opportunities and supporting the wider community.  I joined as a parent governor and have now moved into a co-opted role.  I am delighted to be able to work with the staff, parents and children to help St James fulfil this amazing potential.

Kate Brown

I am a qualified Chartered Accountant, currently working as a Senior Marketing Director at a large software company, and joined as a co-opted governor on the Finance and Accommodation committee. I am passionate about literacy and developing a love of ‘reading for pleasure’ in children – a strong foundation for a love of learning and a creative imagination.  I look forward to working alongside the other governors and the school leadership to deliver on the school development priorities, and to becoming part of the thriving school community.
